How to Reference Simply Put Psych Articles

At Simply Put Psych, we encourage readers to use our articles as inspiration and supplementary material for their academic work.

Simply Put Psych is an academic blog, not a peer-reviewed journal or textbook. Therefore, when referencing our articles, they should be cited following the APA 7th Edition format for webpages or websites and not as journal articles.

Follow the guidelines below to ensure your citations are accurate.

Note: Example article titles and URLs are for demonstration purposes only.

Referencing Format

In APA style, cite an individual author if one is listed for the article.
If no individual author is provided, cite Simply Put Psych as the author.

1. If an Individual Author is Listed

Reference list format:

Author’s Last Name, Initial. (Year, Month Day). Title of the article. Simply Put Psych. URL

Example:

Pass, J. C. (2024, February 2). Is this a real article title for this site? Simply Put Psych. https://simplyputpsych.co.uk/Is-this-a-real-article-title-for-this-site/

In-text citation:

  • Paraphrase: (Pass, 2024)

  • Direct quotation: (Pass, 2024, para. 3)

Note: When quoting directly, use "para." (paragraph) instead of page numbers, as webpages typically do not have pages.

2. If No Individual Author is Listed

If no specific author appears on the article, cite Simply Put Psych as the corporate author.

Reference list format:

Simply Put Psych. (Year, Month Day). Title of the article. Simply Put Psych. URL

Example:

Simply Put Psych. (2024, March 15). It’s most likely just used for demonstration. Simply Put Psych. https://simplyputpsych.co.uk/Its-most-likely-just-used-for-demonstration/
